A Device Management Utility for WTI Console Server and Remote Reboot Products
The Device Management Utility, or DMU, is a convenient, multi-unit management application, which is included with our Console Server products, Remote Power Reboot Products and A/B Fallback products. The DMU provides IT administrators with a single interface that can be used to access multiple WTI units in order to manage passwords, initiate power switching or A/B fallback switching, access command mode and display power consumption data. This allows IT administrators to manage multiple WTI products from a single access point, without external software.
The DMU program allows you to perform the following tasks from a central WTI unit:
Discover New WTI Devices - This function is used to find WTI Console Servers on the client network. After WTI Console Servers have been found, devices can then be managed by the DMU. The DMU will scan one subnet at a time; in order discover units on other subnets, the Discovery procedure is repeated on each available subnet.
Create Device Groups – After WTI Console Servers have been discovered, you can then arrange the units into groups. Although this step is optional, it can help simplify management of multiple units by ensuring that similar units all receive the same instructions. The Device Grouping menu allows you to add, view, edit or delete Device Groups.
Display Unit Status - The “Manage Devices” function allows you to view the status of selected WTI units. The Unit Status screen will list the Unit Name, IP Address, MAC Address, DMU firmware version, the unit model number, the unit’s current rating (power control products only), the temperature, number of switched outlets present (power control products only), the number of serial ports present (serial console server products only), number of A/B Circuits (fallback switches only) the unit’s software version and will also indicate whether or not a modem is installed on the unit.
Communicate with WTI Units to Change Configuration or Issue Commands – Allows you to access the command mode for any listed (discovered) unit, providing one-click access to the Web Browser command interface on WTI Console Servers. This essentially establishes a “pass through” connection to another WTI unit in order to change configuration parameters, invoke commands or create port connections.
Manage Passwords and Usernames on Multiple WTI Units – The “User Accounts” menu allows you to select desired units from the list of all discovered units, and then edit, add or delete passwords and/or usernames on selected units. When passwords or usernames are changed, the DMU can generate a report in CSV, Text, or XML format.
Display Power Consumption Data for One WTI Unit or a Range of WTI Units – The DMU’s power consumption graphs make it easy to determine how much power is being used throughout your IT facility. The DMU can measure Kilowatt Hours, Average/Maximum Current (in Amps), Average/Maximum Power (in Watts) and then display that information in either line graph or bar graph format. Simple controls allow you to display live power consumption data, or power consumption for a user-specified time period.
