Windows Mobile is dead

Everyone is eagerly anticipating their iPhone 3.0 firmware upgrade this week bringing new features and fixing bugs.

One thing that is clear is Apple (however pompous they may be) seems to get these phone upgrades every year and almost flawless to all the phones (even the legacy ones).

If you buy a Windows Mobile Phone you are basically stuck with the version you buy, unless the manufacturer you buy from decides to tweak the new Windows Mobile upgrades to work with your phone, which they have no incentive for.

Microsoft is going to release Windows Mobile 7.0 this fall/winter but it won’t be appearing on phones until mid of next year. Yes, it takes at least 6 month to go from release to the consumer seeing the first phones with the new operating system. How can you survive in an ecosystem like that?

I think it’s an outdated and wrong approach and its costing Microsoft significant market share.

BTW, how did you Digital T.V. transition?  It was this past Friday on 6/12/09 in case you forgot. Yea,  I thought so, no problems. More government money flushed down the drain.

sigh
