The perfect server
I was looking for a fool proof server setup for a small to medium size company with expandability. I think I found a solution.
I will take a quad (or dual quad) Processor Pentium machine, Windows 2008, Hyper-V server and a Drobo Pro External Disk.
This way I have foolproof data mirroring, the ability to add multiple “machines” without having to buy more hardware, plus it give me an install and forget attitude for the server room. I am going to put one of these things together and report back later with all the gory details.
I mention SysInternals every so often from Microsoft, these are excellent utilities to find out what’s happening with your machine. The one utility I run all the time is AutoRuns for Windows. This gives you a detailed view to enable/disable all the startup applications (and more) running on your system. Highly recommended
Now if only I could use Skype on my iPhone over the 3G lines I would be happy
