Server Issues Spoiling Your Day?
So you plan out a day with the wife and kids, you know typical lets pack everyone into the car and go somewhere. One kid is like no I don’t want to go, the other one already wants a million things before you even set off. Finally everyone is in the car and situated. You start heading off to Downtown Laguna, enjoy the weather, people watch a bit and check out all the fun little stores they have. So everything is going well, kids are running around everywhere, you and the wife are chasing them down separately, couldn’t be better.
Now you’re all out on the beach, shoes off walking in the sand, just enjoying the weather. You’re phone goes off, you think, eh typical call, probably what are you up to from one of the friends……..Nope, it’s your favorite person ever…..Your manager. A couple of the servers at work locked up, they need to be up ASAP because is where all your orders and inventory lists are stored. Now, lets be honest, your kind of pissed, got to drop everything your doing cause you’re the only one competent at work. Thankfully you slipped in a PO when you got budget last time for an RSM-16 Console Server.
You grab that company laptop, head over to Starbucks, (A. because they are everywhere, B. because they have WIFI, C. there coffee is ok for the most part, but mainly A & B) You log in via SSH, work some magic, get those server back up and running in no time. You call your boss, told him that it’s done. Boss stumbles for words wondering how you did it, he didn’t even see you come in……You tell him how you got that PO in for a Console Server Switch, because it makes your life easier and saves him time and money. He has no idea what you’re on about, but is happy that it took so little time to get those servers back up and running.
So everybody’s happy now. Everything is working great. So on your way back to the wife and kids, you think, hey maybe I should see if I can get an order in for some of those TSM Console Servers that just came out. Plus it has out of ban access just like the RSM, so if the whole network goes down, no sweat. I think the Boss will approve no problem.
