The Ying and Yang

If case you live under a rock Jerry Yang has stepped down as the Yahoo CEO and is now the Chief Yahoo again.

Don’t get me wrong I never liked Jerry Yang, never did, never will, dont ask me why, I just dont, but the main reason he had to go is the same reason Microsoft is rushing out Windows 7 (aka Vista 2) next year to replace Vista. No matter what you do, the damage is done to your reputation and nothing, even spinning straw into gold, will make any one happy.

If you take a look at Yahoo. It makes money, lots of money. Companies now a days just arent about making money, its about making your shareholders happy.

Jerry Yang should be applauded on keeping Yahoo customers happy, employees relatively happy and the company making alot of money, but that is just not enough. Alas, when the Microsoft deal came to buy Yahoo, it probably was not a good deal for the Yahoo customers and employees, but a sweet deal for the shareholders. Yang told Microsoft to take their $35 dollars per a share offer and go pound sand. Then came Carl Icahn, a real tool of a corporate raider. The master of taking over companies and ripping them apart. The classic problem with American companies these days. Get in and out and make as much money as you can and leave a wake of a disaster. No need to make a decent product any more and just keep the customer barely happy enough not to leave and keep the profits coming in.

So, at the end of the day, the only people that win are the shareholders and the board of directors of Yahoo. I know I am being idealistic, but you know, lets make a win, win for every one. It will build a stronger economy and nation.

To all the doom and gloom people about the economy and startups. Here is how you figure your total revenue for next year. Take what you made last year and cut January, February and March off your books. That will be the total money you will make in the coming year. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Hey, maybe I should apply for the Yahoo CEO.
