Pages and Numbers

Numbers IconI have had my Apple Mac Book Pro for close to a year. It is divided into two partitions, the Windows XP Boot Camp Partition and the Apple OS X partition.

For the whole year, it was split into the Audio/Video work was done on the Apple side and all the “real” work was done in Windows

Until Today.

My wife is taking Biology and Interior Design in the same semester. She asked me to lay something out in a spreadsheet fashion, that includes words and pictures.

No problem, in Windows XP, I opened up Microsoft Excel and started typing in words. The words never wrapped around, they just kept going and going across the page.

Ugh, Ok. Let me see if I have iWork for the Macintosh loaded. I did, OK lets start. I loaded the Apple equivalent of Excel, its called Numbers, but the same thing happened, the text would go on forever, but I looked up at the Apple Numbers Ribbon bar and right there was a checkbox called “wrap”. I checked the box and the text wrapped around. I am sure Excel has the same thing…somewhere, but Page recognized I was typing in text and gave me the options I needed for Text, what a concept! Now for the complicated part. I wanted to stick an image I have open in my web browser into one of the cells. I click on the image in my web browser and drag it into my cell and it copies over and shows up. It just worked, I didn’t have to futz with anything

Incredibly easy, it really looks nice and my wife thinks I am a publishing genius.

Now I am thinking, maybe I will hang around in the Apple side more often.

sigh
