My Chrome 3G iPhone Mesh Zune Android
That title ought to confuse some search engine bots.
All I got is old stuff today, but new to me.
Unless you have been living under a rock (JB) you must have heard about the new browser by Google called Chrome. When it first came out it had a draconian EULA. A few days later they changed it to be in line with every one else. It is based on the open source NetKit, which is also in Safari and a bunch of Linux browsers. Its html/css compliance is great and the javascript (Web 2.0) is really fast, but I think what stands out is the interface. My favorite feature is when you first get into the program it gives you a visual thumbnail view of the last few sites you where on. Go play with it.
I got the new 3G iPhone, not really because I needed to upgrade, but my son wanted an iPod to play games on, so I gave him my SIM-less iPhone and I got the new iPhone. All in All its a yawn for an upgrade. Its got faster internet courtesy of the 3G network and GPS built in. Battery life is on par with the old iPhone, I will keep you up to date.
Also today is about Microsoft Live Mesh. This is the “Sync all my devices” by Microsoft. Its only in tech preview for US customers and it only supports Windows Computers. It has the beginnings of working really well for me. There are folder, browser, live desktop, etc syncing. There is talk on how Microsoft is going to be promoting it heavily during this years PDC conference (anyone want to give me a press pass? Sigh).
Microsoft released their new Zune software on Tuesday (9/16/2008). Ok, laugh if you want, but at least they will upgrade all Zunes purchased since they started selling these things and dont leave the older users out to dry like that fruit company does.
Talking about the fruit company, I went into one of their stores yesterday and there where more people working there mulling around than they had customers. There had to be 15 people working there all with different color shirts on. I know the color of the shirts have a meaning but I had to look them up on the internet to see what they meant. Well I guess I could have asked them, but I didnt want them to make fun of me for having last years model computer.
Last few notes, Google Android platform is going to be released publicly in a phone from T-Mobile (double Yawn)
Microsofts ad firm dropped Jerry Seinfield from their ad campaign for the time being, I dont know, I thought the ads were funny. I think Microsoft could turn lead into gold and the hippies would come out of the wood work and say it is not “Green” enough man.
Groovy man.
Sigh
