Bill Gates and Cellphones
I just could not let this day pass without saying goodbye to Bill Gates from Microsoft. I know, I know, a million other people today are saying the same thing.
I just need to thank him for my house and things I have. I remember back in 1986 when I was programming assembly language TSR programs, A sales guy came up and said hey look at this. It was Windows 1.03, I remember the SDK was ungodly expensive, but my brother working at AST at the time, got a copy and I started down the Windows path years ago. Since then I have added other platforms under my belt but the bread and butter at the beginning was the Windows platform.
Thanks Bill.
A could of other notable things this week. Nokia purchased the remaining shares of the Symbion phone Operating System and turned it Open Source so any one can use it, along with their purchase of Trolltech, this will be an interesting future for mobile phone development. Apple is completing their negotiation with China Mobile to release the iPhone in mainland China, although there is a healthy amount of cracked phones there already, here is a perfect opportunity for Apple to sell applications by the millions there (buy Apple stock). and on the downside Google Android Platform has been delayed probably until next year.
Want to know a Cell phone operator more bold and ready to screw its customers than AT&T, you guessed it, Rodgers in Canada. Thats what happens when you are truly the only game in town.

Microsoft Hyper-V shows up early and cheap, $28 (USD) standalone or free with Windows Server 2008.
With ICANN opening up their registration process (if you have $100,000), look for an explosion of .something names you will have to remember. You know if they just cracked down on the cyber squatters, they would have plenty of names to go around. It seems there are more names that are just ad farms than real web sites, but then again, the world is jealous that the U.S. controls the ICANN agency.
Lastly, I do not care what you say, no one is this good, how many of those crappy online ads do they need to sell to pay this guys salary.
Later.
